Standard Taichi Foundation – 8 Methods and 5 Steps Class

The “Eight Methods and Five Steps” routine is a simple and easy-to-learn introduction to Tai Chi created by experts of the Wushu Sports Management Centre of State Sports Administration in order to better publicize, promote and popularize Tai Chi, and promote China’s excellent traditional culture. Drawing on all forms of Tai Chi, the core techniques are represented in the “Eight Methods and Five Steps” routine, encompassing the eight methods of “ward-off, rollback, push, press, grab, split, elbow strike and shoulder strike”, combined with the five steps of “advancing, retreating, looking left, gazing right and central equilibrium”, as well as the two modes of exercise of standing stake and advancing. These have been refined into a popular routine of culture, fitness and simplicity. The movements are simple in structure, moderate in number but rich in meaning, and easy to learn and practice. This is the ideal routine onto which to progress from the 24-form simplified Tai Chi routine.
太极(八法五步)是国家体育总局为了更好地宣传、推广、普及太极拳运动,弘扬中国优秀传统文化,本着科学化、规范化、简易化的原则,由国家体育总局武术运动管理中心组织专家创编的一个简单易学的太极拳入门套路,是在各式太极拳的基础上,将太极拳中共性的、核心的“八法五步”技术内容进行了整理规范,即:围绕着太极拳“拥、捋、挤、按、探、捌、肘、靠”八种劲法,结合“进、退、顾、盼、定”五种步法,以及站桩和行进两种锻炼形式进行梳理提炼,从而形成了一套具有文化性、健身性和简易性的太极拳普及套路。它动作结构简单,数量合理,内涵丰富,易学易练,是二十四式简化太极拳后推出的又一个更加简化、较为理想的太极拳入门套路。

It can be practiced in limited space with 2 steps left and 2 steps right that fits office, home and other small areas, and it is relatively easy to learn & remember and is most suitable for beginners of all ages to practice everyday.
